Diary Entry: Monday, 1/2/12 and Tuesday 1/3/12

Yesterday and today have been pretty hectic. I returned to work today after a full 9 days off due to the studio closing for the holidays. Man, have I been spoiled. Returning to work today was tough after having time off to just relax and catch up on things.

Monday: 1/2/12

Started off the day at Sweet Butter with my dear friend Susan. Had a delicious Curried Chicken Sandwich and salad…

Full of Curry Chicken Goodness

Sweet Butter is such a quaint place and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. We then headed off to Tujunga Village on a mission to get popsicles from Suck It! (yes you read that right, the place is called Suck It!). Boo on them for being closed on Mondays but yay to Gelato Bar across the street for having such amazing gelato flavors available. We both settled on a Chocolate Strawberry flavor which honestly tasted like chocolate covered strawberries. I also mixed it up with a scoop of Banana Split which paled in comparison.

I'll see you again soon...

The fun really began when we went to test drive some cars. It was a bit discouraging being basically shooed off the Audi lot but thankfully we were on “car row” and had many dealerships to choose from. I have made up my mind and will get a 2012 Nissan Rogue…most likely happening on Saturday…pictures to follow of course :)

Ended the evening with a cupcake from Velvet Cupcakes…

Loving The Decor

Tuesday: 1/3/12

Back to work we go! Why is it so hard to get back in the swing of things. I saw Richard at lunch time… he had to sign some forms for me to sell the car. He suggested that we not talk as much because it’s too hard. I respect his decision and told him we’ll only talk when absolutely necessary.

Ended the evening with some of my favorite people at a restaurant called “Home”. Cool ambience, great conversation, what more can a girl ask for?

How about a Beet/Pear salad? UH-MAH-ZING

Picture Does Not Do It Justice!

We talked about many things over wine, appetizers and our entrees. The topic of “soul mates” came up and they asked me if I had met mine, I realized that I haven’t. Just another thing I should look forward to one day I suppose :)

Goodnight Friends…xoxo

Diary Entry: Sunday, 1/1/12

Happy New Year!

As promised, here are some of my New Year’s resolutions

Six of My Main Resolutions

These are some personal goals that I strive for and it’s nice having them written somewhere I can see them everyday. Great reminders as I start my day :)

I went on a food excursion today, eating everything in sight. Started off at Dean and Deluca’s

Oh! The Choices!

Settled On A Caprese Salad and Blackened Chicken

Ran to WholeFoods to pick up some food for my place then off to FukuBurger…

Cool Lighting

Settled On A Heart Attack Of A Burger!

I chose the burger with the fried egg on top of it. It was delish but man my stomach hates me right now. I also had the Hana Lychee drink (girls, you would love it) and garlic fries. So much for my “diet”. Had a girl walk by who just got a tattoo on her ass and wanted to show it to me. She did and it was strange. Also saw a group of guys steal a bowl of french fries from one of the tables. That too was strange…

Rounded off the evening at Alcove Cafe and Bakery.

Get In My Belly!

Yummmmm.....

All in all, it was a nice way to start off 2012…xoxo

Diary Entry: Saturday, 12/31/11

Well, it’s here…New Year’s Eve. I can’t believe 2011 is almost over. Time passes us by so quickly and I’m trying to remember all the events that has led me to where I am today. Looking back on 2011, I have seen many big changes…the biggest being my divorce. Other changes include starting a new job, moving and meeting new people. I decided to stay home tonight and clean up my place in preparation for the new year. For some reason, I just could not bring myself to go out tonight. I felt like the only place I really wanted to be was home. There’s a peace in wanting that.

I started off the day with laundry, exercising and lying out by the pool. I’m sure going to miss my pool time next week when work starts off again. Only in California can you find yourself in a bikini in December. By the way, my friend Melissa was told that if someone gives you a red pair of underwear and you wear it on New Year’s, you’ll find love that year. We went and bought each other a pair yesterday and are both wearing it…I know it’s a stretch but let’s see if the magic of the red panties work!

My New Favorite Pasttime

I also ran some errands and treated myself to Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food (my favorite flavor). I know it’s counterproductive to my morning exercise but what the hey! It’s New Year’s Eve… I’ll try harder next year :)

All gone!

Wishing everyone the very best this upcoming year. I had written down some of my resolutions on my chalk wall. Will post tomorrow…

xoxo

Diary Entry: Friday, 12/30/11

I had a fun day with a good friend today but for some reason was feeling pretty blue as well. Maybe because tomorrow is New Year’s Eve which would have been mine and Richard’s 3 year wedding anniversary. It’s sad to have spent the last 5 New Year’s Eves with him as my boyfriend/fiancee/husband and to not spend it with him at all this year. It’s been very challenging to not be sad during this time of year. Christmas was very tough and I suspect tomorrow will be the same but I’m trying to stay positive and let this day pass as I let Christmas pass.

On a lighter note, here is a photo from today’s adventure with Melissa. She was looking for a masquerade mask for her party tomorrow and we happened upon this costume store in Pasadena.

The Banana Man Comes With A Purchase of 2 Masquerade Masks :)

We also started off the day at the nail salon.

Sparkly Nails

Have a good night! xoxo

Diary Entry: Thursday, 12/29/11

I started the day off at CarMax to get my car appraised. It’s a 2008 Hyundai Sante Fe that Richard and I picked out together in anticipation that we would one day fill it up with little ones. Now that I’m single, I feel it’s time to ditch the ride and start off fresh with something a little more youthful. I owe a little under 9k on my car and it was appraised at 10k…which was a little disappointing but at this point at least it will pay off the car completely and still give me a little seed money to put as a down payment for a lease.

I’m still debating on which car to get…what are young, single kids driving nowadays?? The fact that I have to ask that question demonstrates just how old I am :)

This may sound a bit silly, but I was really proud of myself today. I changed my broken toilet seat all by myself. Is it sad that it was perhaps the highlight of my day?

By the way, I’m the proud new owner of these gorgeous Sam Edelman pumps….can’t wait to wear them!

Shoes, why are you so pretty?

My new love, close up...

Until next time…ta.

xoxo

Diary Entry: Wednesday, 12/28/11

Today was a very productive day…one that I spent all by myself doing the following:

1. Lulling around my apartment writing on this blog :)

2. Exercising

3. Lying out by the pool

4. Massage

5. Dentist

6. Retail Therapy

7. Dry Cleaners

And back again at the blog. I plan on rounding off the night by reading a book. Currently I am reading “Blue Nights” by Joan Didion who wrote my favorite book of all time: “The Year of Magical Thinking”.

I did have a “boy” experience today when a guy (let’s call him “Charles”) I used to date randomly texted me because he was “thinking of me” (No this isn’t the guy I recently ended things with, rather a guy I dated before I met my ex-husband). He always finds a way to remind me of the reasons why we ended things. For starters, he’s a bit of a creep. There’s a fine line between being flirty and sleazy and he is always dancing around that line. He wanted me to meet him at his place first and then go out to eat. I know that sounds harmless, but he is also the same guy who months ago wanted me to meet him for dinner and when I said “Okay, I’ll meet you right after work” he came back with this line ” Don’t you want to go home and shower first?”. Needless to say, I never did meet with him and won’t meet with him this time around either. Note to men out there in the blogosphere reading this, if you want to attract a girl, don’t be a scumbag. That’s all.

xoxo

Detoxing

I dated a great guy (we’ll call him Michael) recently for a few months but for several factors, things just didn’t work out. I am currently “Detoxing” from this relationship which according to Dr. Pat Allen will take me approximately 8 weeks. If I didn’t detox from my marriage, does that mean I have to double the number of weeks? Guess I’m going to rehab.

Optimistic

Being as this is my first post, it’s only fair that I lay out the groundwork and introduce myself. I’m 29 years old, female and recently got separated from my husband of 2 1/2 years. Okay, that really is not a good introduction but we have a lot to cover here so we’ll just start with the basics for now. You and I will have lots of time to get to know each as time goes on.

It has been a little over six months since we filed for divorce and a lot has changed however a lot has also remained the same since then.

Changes:

1. Live on my own in a comfy little studio by my work

2. Have been dating (not successfully, but lucky for my readers unsuccessful dating stories are oh so much more entertaining that the successful ones)

3. Going out a lot more with so many amazing people. I feel so blessed for this time because I have met some of the most wonderful friends who I know will be in my life forever. I’m sure I will mention them by their aliases in future blogs…

There are more changes but in the interest of time and my attempt to keep you hooked we’ll just close this introduction by saying “Hi” and I hope you enjoy this journey into singledom with me…xoxo
